The Allendale Township Board discussed the “Save The Campbell” Resolutions as an agenda item at its 09/08/2025 meeting, following a speech I gave at the previous Board meeting. I am thankful this Board seriously weighs this important topic, especially given that it is so affected by a planned battery storage plant in nearby Blendon Township. That dangerous battery plant, along with the planned demolition of the Campbell plant, are both consequences of the UN’s Net Zero Agenda that Consumers Energy is implementing. The Net Zero Agenda seeks to replace fossil fuel electric generating plants with battery/solar/wind. Michigan’s PA 233 law largely removes local township authority to stop battery/solar/wind development, so it is especially important that Ottawa County pursue the replacement of Consumers Energy with a locally controlled electric cooperative which can thwart the Net Zero Agenda in another way.
At the 09/08/2025 meeting three Board members spoke cogently in support of the “Save The Campbell” Resolutions: Kris Schuitema, David Vander Wall, and Bruce Zeinstra. That makes three trustees out of seven which appear on the side of effectively thwarting the Net Zero Agenda, but at least one more trustee is needed to make a majority. Will there be at least one other trustee to join these three? Will the Allendale Township Board cave into the Net Zero Agenda, or will it join with other township boards to seek to thwart it? It seems we will find out at the 09/22/2025 meeting.

I again want to thank the Allendale Township Board for seriously considering this important topic. They are not just sweeping it under the rug.
