Data centers can be used for good or ill, like guns and other weapons. We need them under local American control, to better ensure they are not used for ill, but for good. Unilateral disarmament is not a wise strategy for things which can be used for good or ill in a powerful way.
This is one reason I advise data centers only be allowed in Ottawa County if we have local control of our electric grid, including data centers, via a locally elected electric cooperative board. We need to stay technologically on top, but we also need to make sure that technology is not used against us but for our local interest.
