The Consumers Energy/MPSC duo are Net Zero zealots, but the Net Zero path has major technical problems. Ottawa County needs political leaders willing to seriously consider the local control option in order to get us off this disastrous Net Zero train.
One technical problem is described at https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1PfKaGh1tQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr.
A related technical problem is described at https://www.utilitydive.com/news/summer-peak-demand-is-soaring-and-inverter-based-resources-are-a-key-risk-NERC/748205 .
Another technical issue is the battery technology is not sufficiently advanced to be able to provide the economic battery storage needed in order for solar and wind to reliably work, given their variability. So it becomes incredibly expensive to maintain the redundant fossil fuel backup systems for periods when solar and wind does not provide the necessary baseload electric.
The danger of the Net Zero path was recently demonstrated in Spain and Portugal which experienced nationwide blackouts and risked even bringing down more of Europe’s electric grid.
It is past time to get off this Net Zero train. Michigan law recognizes the validity of amending Net Zero course if the electric grid is endangered. But the Consumers Energy/MPSC duo are such Net Zero zealots that it is clear they have no intention to deviate from their Net Zero plans unless forced to, and even then they will sock Consumers Energy customers for all of the costs of any system redundancies made necessary because of the fundamental flaw with the Net Zero agenda.
This is why our locally elected Ottawa County leaders need to adopt the “Save The Campbell” recommended course of action.
