The Campbell has been the largest source of GHAPS tax revenues, so its closure significantly hurts it. People need to be made aware of this, and they can read about its effect here: https://www.hollandsentinel.com/story/news/local/2023/06/07/planned-campbell-plant-closure-opens-up-property-for-development/70292298007/ .

Grand Haven residents are responding negatively to the cuts they are now learning about, as described at https://restoreottawa.substack.com/p/grand-haven-residents-unhappy-with : “Superintendent Kristen Perkowski gave a presentation attempting to justify the decision to close Mary A. White. She explained that the district faces a $5.5 million shortfall, that the decision was based on lots of data, and there had been ongoing discussions since November 2024.” But they are still largely unaware that the Campbell closure has anything to do with it.

But this problem arising out of the Campbell closure, like the Pigeon Lake Channel dredging issue, are themselves modest compared with the coming electric service and pricing issues ahead, as NERC has warned. Many Ottawa County citizens do not care now, but as the negative ramifications of the Campbell closure roll in, there will be huge upset.
