Subject: please support saving the JH Campbell generating plant from 2025 closure and demolition

Dear State Senator Victory:

We would ask for your support in saving West Michigan’s JH Campbell generating plant which provides reliable, affordable electric for 1 million regional residents. It is scheduled for 2025 closure and demolition because MPSC pressured Consumers Energy to close it precipitously. I lead the effort to save it: https://savethecampbell.com/ .  We are thankful to already have State Rep. Luke Meerman’s support to save it, and we are thankful area township boards like Georgetown Township and Jamestown Township are stepping forward in support. Here is what Georgetown Township is poised to pass: https://savethecampbell.com/resolution-prepared-by-the-utilities-committee-of-the-georgetown-township-board-to-save-the-campbell/ . Your support of saving it would be very helpful to our effort. If we do not save it and other fossil fuel plants, we are in for trouble: https://www.michigancapitolconfidential.com/news/net-zero-goals-likely-to-turn-off-michigans-electricity-grid?utm_campaign=CapCon+Daily&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=331817859&utm_content=331817859&utm_source=hs_email .

Sincerely,

Joseph Parnell McCarter
