Key Capture representative explains their project to a concerned and skeptical public.
As noted previously, Key Capture Energy is trying to make the case for Blendon Township to allow a battery plant as part of the Net Zero agenda. The representative admitted it would only store electricity for around four hours for homes in the region, which is hardly enough to replace the reliable supply of electricity from the Campbell plant and other fossil fuel plants. The representative indicated they are hoping to enter into contracts with Consumers Energy and DTE in order to help them in their energy plans. The Key Capture representative says that it is leaving it up to other parties to generate the electricity via solar and wind.
One attender told us she has been approached multiple times to sell her farm so it can be used for solar panels, like other farm owners.
I met various of the Blendon Township Board members, and presented the Blendon Township supervisor with the request to pass the “Save The Campbell” resolutions already passed by Jamestown Township. Ottawa County townships need to investigate replacing Consumers Energy and their Net Zero agenda with locally controlled electric cooperatives. Ottawa County and its townships also need to tax large-scale battery and solar enterprises for the environmental costs local municipalities will incur as a result of their activities; local citizens should not be left holding the bag of these costs.
