Dear Allendale Township Board Members,
I encourage you to read about that Blendon Township meeting here: https://savethecampbell.com/local-citizens-turned-out-in-large-numbers-to-express-their-opposition-to-the-proposed-battery-plant-in-blendon-township-as-part-of-the-net-zero-agenda-congratulations-to-those-who-got-the-word-out/ . Trustee Schuitema’s comments there were very encouraging, including her call for the township boards of Ottawa County to work together to stop this. Allendale Township is apparently in the evacuation zone.
As I noted in my speech at that Blendon meeting, this battery plant is all part of the Net Zero Agenda: https://savethecampbell.com/speech-before-the-blendon-township-board-on-08-18-2025-speaking-in-favor-of-the-new-save-the-campbell-resolutions/ . We are encouraged by the positive response of a number of Ottawa County Township boards for the second round of Campbell Resolutions to thwart that Net Zero Agenda.
I was disappointed that the Allendale Township Board chose not to participate in the first round of Campbell Resolutions, unlike many other township boards and the Ottawa County Board. But I hope you will support this needed second round of Campbell Resolutions.
The Consumers Energy representative that spoke before the Allendale Township Board lied to you. He said electric rates would go down if they closed and demolished the Campbell plant. Irrespective of the Campbell costs, Consumers Energy is now asking for the largest price hike in decades, after just recently hiking prices. Additionally, they are asking for cost recovery money to keep the Campbell open, rather than instead cutting their Net Zero expenditures and adopting a sane energy policy. See https://savethecampbell.com/consumers-energy-monopoly-pricing-is-outrageous-and-we-need-local-government-to-consider-providing-a-competing-alternative/ .
I hope to speak before the Allendale Township Board sometime soon and again make the case that the Allendale Township Board not sit on the sidelines but instead take action in defense of residents against the harmful Net Zero Agenda.
Sincerely,
Joseph Parnell McCarter
