Consumers Energy’s plan is mostly to invest in unreliable Net Zero electric energy generation:
“Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest energy provider, says it plans to significantly expand renewable power generation while also building two new natural gas plants as part of a long-term strategy to meet Michigan’s electricity needs…The proposal includes more than 13 gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable and clean energy resources — including solar, wind, and battery storage — supported by two new natural gas facilities capable of producing about 1.5 GW of power.” – Consumers Energy details long-term power plan – Daily Energy Insider
Unstated but very real is their plan to demolish our reliable Campbell plant.
We, Consumers Energy customers, will pay for this misguided plan, which also means more of our valuable farmlands are wasted on solar/wind/battery.
This highlights the need for Ottawa County townships to join the exploratory committee for a locally controlled electric cooperative which can get us off this Net Zero agenda and onto a sound energy plan.
