Ottawa County needs to introduce more real competition and alternatives into the local grid market so local residential interests are better served.

There is a section of Blendon Township with Great Lakes Energy Cooperative, and there is a section with Consumers Energy. But MPSC discourages competition among electric providers, which is just the opposite of what it should be doing for the sake of customers. There should instead be encouraged vigorous competition between the various electric cooperatives and private companies vying to win over each township and county. If there were such competition, then townships and counties not wanting Consumers Energy’s disastrous Net Zero agenda could easily leave Consumers Energy. In Ottawa County we need to force a change in this, but we need political leaders willing to do it and change the status quo of prostrating ourselves to Whitmer and Lansing. There are legal means to effect this change right now with help from the Trump Administration. Now is the time to do it by God’s grace.
