Thanks so much for your Administration’s placing a hold on the closure of the JH Campbell electric generating plant; please extend this hold for more months as it is important that the Campbell plant in Ottawa County, Michigan not be closed and demolished anytime soon. We need the reliable, economic electric the Campbell plant provides, in contrast to the Net Zero Agenda of Gov. Whitmer, Attorney General Nessel, and monopolies like Consumers Energy working at the behest of the Whitmer-appointed MPSC.
I would also solicit the assistance of your Administration with our local “Save The Campbell” Resolution project, that concludes in its local government Resolution as follows:
“NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the _ Township Board hereby joins together with other township boards in Ottawa County in setting up an exploratory committee to investigate acquiring Consumers Energy’s interest in the JH Campbell generating plant, via local electric cooperative(s), financed with the assistance of a data center that would utilize some of the Campbell’s generated electricity and/or Federal Government assistance, and facilitated with the assistance of the Ottawa County Board. It would also investigate the possibility of attaining local control of electric for the parts of Ottawa County currently utilizing Consumers Energy as its electric public utility.”
We are making good progress in getting this Resolution passed, even as we were able to get the first round of “Save The Campbell” resolutions passed by God’s grace. Seven township boards and the county board passed the first round Campbell resolution, and we hope to get even more on board with this one.
It is clear that Consumers Energy intends to keep aggressively pursuing its Net Zero Agenda, and not utilizing the Campbell plant as it should be used. They are then making electric ratepayers pick up the bill for their insane energy policy.
We are responding by seeking to form a local electric cooperative which will purchase Consumers Energy’s interest in the Campbell plant. We know your Administration shares our vision to keep the Campbell plant open and for a portion of its electric generation be used to provide reliable electric to a nearby AI data center. It would be a perfect location, as it is also near the large body of Lake Michigan water needed for cooling the data center. We would request that the Trump Administration be at the table when this avenue is explored by our local Ottawa County governments.
Would you be willing to so assist?
Sincerely,
Joseph Parnell McCarter
