Here is one example news release of Consumers Energy:

This includes buying Michigan farmlands and forests and converting them into solar panel fields.

Meanwhile, it plans to sock customers with many costs to keep Campbell open but largely unused, even though the Campbell does provide reliable baseload, and does not have all of the reliability issues of solar and wind in Michigan. Consumers Energy should be halting its expenditures on its solar and wind projects, and use them to get Campbell restarted, without socking Consumers Energy customers with higher electric rates. Indeed, it should even reduce these misguided Green New Scam projects so much that customers can enjoy lower rates.

Michigan law recognizes the need to halt the Net Zero project if the grid is endangered, and there is plenty of evidence it is endangered with the current Net Zero course.

The problem lies in the fact that the Consumers Energy/MPSC duo leaders are both Net Zero zealots and greedy. One can see the millions of dollars that CMS executives make, while ordinary Michigan citizens financially struggle so these executives can brag about their “aggressive green energy plans” at the country club and dinner parties. And there are valid concerns of how MPSC regulators enjoy many perks and benefits from a cozy relationship with Consumers Energy and DTE executives.

By the authority vested in it by the Michigan Constitution, the Ottawa County Board should pass a resolution calling on Consumers Energy not to seek cost recovery from customers of costs to keep Campbell open, but instead to reduce its significant expenditures on executing its “aggressive green energy plans”. If it refuses, like it likely will, then the Ottawa County Board should help townships get local control of the Campbell and electric in Ottawa County, like some parts of the County already enjoy.
