MISO and NERC have been warning for many months about the dangers of the Net Zero plan which Consumers Energy/MPSC duo has us on. There are significant technical problems with the Net Zero plan. The skyrocketing electric costs in the UK of Net Zero are a warning. The recent blackout in Spain and Portugal are a warning. The power outage even in our own regional grid due to lack of electric supply to meet demand is a warning. The likely loss of solar credit so necessary to solar economic feasibility is a warning. And there are many more.
Yet Net Zero zealots Consumers Energy and MPSC refuse to budge from their path. They refuse to cut spending on their Net Zero agenda that could more than offset the costs of keeping the Campbell open. They refuse to let a data center use some of the electric from the Campbell and pay top dollar for it, so that residential rates for customers could be lowered.
They have the audacity to ask for cost recovery money because of their irresponsibility, and they blame the Trump Administration for keeping the Campbell plant open by executive order.
It is time for locally elected leaders to pursue the “Save The Campbell” recommendation and de-couple as much as possible from this Net Zero zealot duo.
