Unlike the past, there is huge demand for co-located, reliable electric energy next to a large body of water so that an AI data center can operate. An AI data center needs huge quantities of reliable electric and water to operate, especially if it can be co-located next to the electric plant providing it with its electricity. There is huge demand for such AI data centers, so the Campbell complex can charge top dollar to provide it. The “Save The Campbell” plan proposes just that, and the huge revenues it brings in can subsidize the electric for Ottawa County residents which would be owners of the Campbell plant via municipal electric cooperatives. So the Campbell plant would not only provide reliable electric for Ottawa County and Wolverine Power customers, it would also mean reductions in electric bills for Ottawa County residents. It especially can mean a reduction for Ottawa County Consumers Energy customers who have been paying 58% more for electric than Zeeland customers with their municipalized electric. The additional money can and should also be used to make sure that the Campbell operates in a fully environmental responsible manner, as well as be used to fund local government which provides needed government services, dredge Pigeon Lake Channel regularly (which is expensive but needed), etc.
Ottawa County is being lied to and shafted by Consumers Energy, but the “Save The Campbell” plan provides a way out of this to a future with the following characteristics:
- Reliable electric
- Affordable electric
- Environmentally safe electric
God has provided Ottawa County a precious jewel in the Campbell, and we should not be deceived and squander it.
