Wolverine Power customers were left in the lurch by the decision to precipitously close down the Campbell plant. To keep it quiet, the Biden Administration did the following: “Wolverine Power Cooperative and Hoosier Energy, receiving $650 million and $675 million respectively”, to be satisfied with a re-started Palisades nuclear reactor instead. This is on top of the billions the Federal Government will be doling out to Holtec, the owner of Palisades, plus “the state of Michigan also contributes $300 million.” [1]

So billions of taxpayer dollars are being funneled to various parties in order to try to replace the Campbell plant with a re-started Palisades nuclear reactor. Never in the history of the USA has a shut down nuclear plant been re-started, because there were economic and technical reasons it shut down, and now it is in worse shape than it was at the time it was mothballed. Consumers Energy sold the Palisades years ago because it was such an economic and technical headache even back then

We are heading towards demolishing the Campbell plant which provides reliable, affordable and environmentally safe electric, possibly to be replaced by a re-started Palisades nuclear reactor which has none of those features.
