Chester Township joins Jamestown, Blendon, Polkton, and Zeeland Townships.
Here was our letter expressing appreciation of this latest addition:
Ms. Dietrich,
Thank you so much for your support to “Save The Campbell”! It is critical that we present a united voice as a County to Consumers Energy and MPSC that we do not want this 2025 closure and demolition of the Campbell plant which provides reliable electric to 1 million regional residents.
The Chester Township Board is now the 5th township board in the County to pass such a resolution, and we are encouraged that others will follow. Your leadership has paved the way for that to happen.
We are also working to get the County Board to pass such a resolution and then to take necessary legal action if Consumers Energy fails to listen to us. There is strong legal ground for Ottawa County in joining Wolverine Power in litigation on this, should Consumers Energy not heed our request. DTE is not shutting its far more polluting Monroe plant until 2032. West Michigan should not be the guinea pig in an experiment that our regional grid operator MiSO says will not work.
Thanks again,
Joseph Parnell McCarter

Ms. Dietrich had written us a kind communication informing us of the Township’s action:
Mr. McCarter:
Please see our resolution to request delay of the Campbell plant.
This is very important to the citizens of our area. Thank you for taking the lead on this.
Helen Dietrich
